The Psychonaut Project for Research, an organization from the EU which scans the entire internet for any new information with respect to newly introduced drugs, were the first organization which had identified the drug Mephedrone during the year 2008. According to this research, this drug was made available on the market in the year 2007. The first ever seizure of Mephedrone was during May in 2007 in France. This happened when the police sent one tablet which was thought to be ecstacy for analysis and was found to be different.
This drug had started being used in products like Neodoves pills which was sold by the company Neorganics though they stopped selling it during January 2008. This was because the Israeli government, where this company is located, made this drug illegal. The drug is also known to be sold like a designer drug even though there is very little knowledge about it in terms of pharmacology or toxicology. It’s been reported that this drug was sold in Cairns, Australia as Ecstacy combined with ethylcathinone and similar occurences have been noted in the U.S. and Europe as well. The Daily Telegraph says that this drug is being produced in China at the moment and that the manufacturers are making quite a lot of money from the sales.
