If you’re wanting a change of careers, there’s rarely been a better time to make the change; not because the job market is that great, but because it isn’t. The tumultuous state of the world’s economy is helping smart job seekers hone both their vision and their investigative skills. Whereas once you would have your sights set on a line of work and then go for it, it’s far more wise these days to look at careers as if they are longterm investments. Because truly, why go to the effort finding and landing a job that may be outsourced before you’ve even managed to take your first holiday?
Let’s face it, some jobs have futures, some don’t. The best way to research job trends is to keep up with posts on the Web and also subscribe to various trade magazines. And it’s also a good idea to simply keep an ear out by asking friends and colleagues what’s what. For instance we all know “green” technology is on the rise, but did you know that pharmacy jobs are also a good line to pursue? Not only is the pharmaceutical industry big business, it’s also big business across the globe. Thinking about working in another country? The medical industry may be your ticket!
Wherever your career interests lie, it is imperative to be proactive in your job seeking approach. From networking to signing up with a recruitment agency, to going back to school – anything you can do to set yourself apart in a positive fashion will help assure your success.
Good job hunting and good luck!

Become a listmaker. Studies show that people who make lists and adhere to them are more effieicnt and generally more successful than those who don’t. Take proper care of yourself. If you constantly eat fast food and never exercise, your memory will suffer as a result. So eat well, get proper rest, consider a brain-function supplement like ginkgo biloba and be sure to drink plenty of water to help keep your brain firing right. Also be sure to take time out for yourself, whether that means taking your morning tea in solitude or having a bath after work – be sure you nourish yourself so that you can also be present for everyone else.
